Create A New Floor Plan With Studio Apartment Room Dividers
For many, the wide open floor plan and tall ceiling of a studio or loft apartment offer the most comfortable living situations available. The lack of interior walls gives one a sense of space and offers endless options in decorating and arranging furniture. However, what these modern apartments do not offer is privacy. If there is more than one occupant, there is no place for one to go where they are not in plain view of their roommate. This can be unnerving, even for the closest of friends or spouses. One answer to this dilemma is the addition of studio apartment room dividers.
Serving as a replacement for a permanent wall or door, a room divider will not detract from the flow of light and air in the apartment, which are the main reasons you chose to live in a studio apartment. You may choose freestanding partitions, or rolling, sliding, or hanging screens. This choice is only limited by your own decorating ideas. You may not even need privacy, but simply a marker that says “you are now entering my space,” or “my den,” or “my office.”
One contemporary option is the Sotto Retro-Chic Hanging Room Divider. This is a hanging divider that offers no privacy, but makes an excellent boundary between one space and the next. 1970s-inspired brown shapes, made of veneered MDF with walnut stain are suspended from black ball-chain. It is installed at the floor and ceiling, and is 40 inches wide. For something simpler, consider checking at Walmart and Ikea for floor-length drapes that can be installed in the ceiling.
Louvered dividers offer full privacy without hampering the flow of light and air. Both light and air are able to flow freely through the spaces between narrow slats; however, the slats are turned down slightly, making it impossible to see through. The Seven-Foot Tall Venetian Room Divider is a beautiful example of a louvered divider. This is a folding room divider with three to six panels, connected to one another with brass hinges. Hinges turn in both directions, so you can fold the partition in any direction. This makes the screen easy to use as you wish and easy to store when it is not needed. A more conservative option is the The Espresso Finish Folding Room Divider with Louver & Bead-Board Panels. This is a three-panel privacy screen, stained in a deep espresso shade. The bottom half of each panel features wide vertical wood slats, and the top half is comprised of Venetian style blinds.
Whichever style you choose, you will love the versatility and ease of using a room divider. You may choose to install tracks for sliding room dividers, or use screens that can be tucked away when you do not need them. You could even create a whole room, using sliding or freestanding room dividers as the walls. A quick internet search will reveal to you the vast number of room dividers on the market and the many choices available to you so that you can purchase the one that best suits your needs and tastes.
